Costa del Sol
Costa del Sol, or “Sun Coast,” is a region in Southern Spain in the Malaga province. In the 1950’s it started to become a tourist attraction due to the numerous ‘A’ list Hollywood celebrities who began visiting the region for holidays. After that in the 60s, European royalty began to visit the region as well. Since then, it has become more and more popular for with all kinds of tourists, offering activities to visitors with regards to culture, music, traditions, sports, restaurants, and other leisure activities.
There are many things to learn about in Costa del Sol, from bullfighting to flamenco to Picasso. You can visit Picasso’s birthplace, as well as the Picasso Museum. Many of the towns along the coast have local museums that could prove interesting for a tourist.

Other popular attractions include the Malaga Cathedral, Ronda, a historic city nearby, and Bobastro, an ancient village famous for its limestone formations. The Castillo de Gibralfaro is a 14th century castle overlooking Malaga that has been turned into a hotel. You can also visit La Alcazaba, an old fortress dating back to the 700’s. There are many interesting and educational places to visit on a trip around the breathtaking area.

There are multiple luxury spas and hotels throughout the region, as well as other leisure activities, such as parks and beaches which help the Costa del Sol live up to it’s name.

If you take a day trip to Mijas, you will see a beautiful white village with the huge Fuengirola markets just a short distance away, where you can shop to your heart’s content.
